The Redwoods

Haere mai! Welcome! Rotorua, New-Zealand’s thermal capital is famous for its vibrant Maori culture, spectacular thermal areas & forest-fringed trout-filled lakes. Rotorua lies at the heart of New Zealand’s most active geothermal field with bubbling mud pools in the parks, geysers & steaming fumaroles just minutes from the city. It’s rich Maori heritage gives an extra cultural dimension to the city. On of the must-do’s is a thermal bath and so we went to ‘Polynesian Spa’ & enjoyed a well-deserved wellness treat.
The next day we went for a hike in the Redwoods aka Tokorangi Forest, part of the greater Whakarewarewa forest. The forest is filled with the beautiful Sequoia tree, a tall & majestic tree who’s origin comes from a narrow strip down the coast of California in the States. Some trees in the Redwoods have a length of 67 meters!
